NTDP - Oncology Pharmacology and Therapeutics

This activity was planned to meet the needs of pharmacists enrolled in the Shenandoah University Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy Nontraditional Doctor of Pharmacy Pathway.
This knowledge-based online home-study activity consists of recorded lectures with PowerPoint slides and notes, readings in textbooks and journal articles, and online assessments/exams. Case studies within the lectures will enable the pharmacists to apply the information from the lectures to specific patient scenarios.
The goal of this activity is to develop the pharmacists’ skills to assess, evaluate and apply evidence-based information in order to make knowledgeable, rational, responsible and ethical   therapeutic decisions regarding the treatment and management of patients with anemias, cancer and paraneoplastic syndromes.

Requirements for CE Credit

Pharmacists must complete the following items by the due dates specified in the online academic course that correlates to this activity to receive CPE credit:
  1. Review all online lectures associated with this activity.
  2. Complete and submit all assignments associated with this activity.
  3. Complete all online assessments/exams associated with this activity with a combined average score of at least 70%. Participants will only have one opportunity to access each assessment/exam and must complete the assessment/exam within the allotted time limit. 
  4. Complete the online CPE evaluation for this activity.





  • Recognize and describe the pathophysiology of anemias, cancer and paraneoplastic syndromes
  • Recognize and describe the pharmacology of different classes of medications used in the treatment and supportive care of cancer patients and solid organ transplant recipients
  • Evaluate and select education and treatment options for anemias, iron toxicity, cancer and supportive care
  • Evaluate clinical outcomes of treatment and management plans for anemias, iron toxicity, cancer and supportive care, and immunosuppressant usage in solid organ transplantation
  • Apply an evidence-based approach to selective patient cases in cancer and related complications
