TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity was planned to meet the needs of pharmacists enrolled in the Shenandoah University Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy Nontraditional Doctor of Pharmacy Pathway.
 
FORMAT
This knowledge-based online home-study activity consists of recorded lectures with PowerPoint slides and notes, readings in textbooks and journal articles, and online assessments/exams. Case studies within the lectures will enable the pharmacists to apply the information from the lectures to specific patient scenarios.
 
EDUCATIONAL GOALS
The goal of this activity is to develop the pharmacists’ skills to assess, evaluate and apply evidence-based information in order to make knowledgeable, rational, responsible and ethical therapeutic decisions regarding the treatment and management of patients with diabetes mellitus and related complications, endocrinologic disorders of the thyroid, adrenal gland and pituitary.

Requirements for CE Credit

  2. Complete and submit all assignments associated with this activity.
  3. Complete all online assessments/exams associated with this activity with an average score of 70% on all assessments. Participants will only have one opportunity to access each assessment/exam and must complete the assessment/exam within the allotted time limit. 
  4. Complete the online CPE evaluation for this activity.

 

 

 

Objectives

  • Recognize and describe the pathophysiology of diabetes mellitus and related complications and endocrinologic disorders of the thyroid, adrenal gland and pituitary.
  • Recognize and describe the pharmacology of different classes of medications used to treat diabetes mellitus and related complications and endocrinologic disorders of the thyroid, adrenal gland and pituitary.
  • Evaluate and select education and treatment options for diabetes mellitus and related complications and endocrinologic disorders of the thyroid, adrenal gland and pituitary.
  • Evaluate clinical outcomes of treatment and management plans for diabetes mellitus and related complications and endocrinologic disorders of the thyroid, adrenal gland and pituitary.
  • Apply an evidence-based approach to selective patient cases in diabetes mellitus and related complications and endocrinologic disorders of the thyroid, adrenal gland and pituitary
