This activity was planned to meet the needs of pharmacists enrolled in the Shenandoah University Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy Nontraditional Doctor of Pharmacy Pathway.
This knowledge-based online home-study activity consists of recorded lectures with PowerPoint slides and notes, readings in textbooks and journal articles, and online assessments/exams. Case studies within the lectures will enable the pharmacists to apply the information from the lectures to specific patient scenarios.
The goal of this activity is to develop the pharmacists’ skills to assess, evaluate and apply evidence-based information in order to make knowledgeable, rational, responsible and ethical therapeutic decisions regarding the treatment and management of patients with neurologic and psychiatric diseases.
Shenandoah University Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
Requirements for CE Credit
Pharmacists must complete the following items by the due dates specified in the online academic course that correlates to this activity to receive CPE credit:
- Review all online lectures associated with this activity.
- Complete and submit all assignments associated with this activity.
- Complete all online assessments/exams associated with this activity with a score of at least 70% on each exam. Participants will only have one opportunity to access each assessment/exam and must complete the assessment/exam within the allotted time limit. If any one assessment/exam is scored less than 70%, no CPE credit will be awarded for this course/activity. No partial credit will be awarded.
- Complete the online CPE evaluation for this activity.
- Describe the pathophysiology of each neurologic and psychiatric disease discussed in the course
- Explain the pharmacology of different classes of medications used to treat neurologic and psychiatric diseases
- Evaluate and select education and treatment options for neurologic and psychiatric diseases
- Evaluate clinical outcomes of treatment and management plans for neurologic and psychiatric diseases
- Apply an evidence-based approach to presented patient cases
- Recall the brand and generic names as well as dosage ranges and applicable therapeutic serum levels for the medications discussed
